British Council recently launched the Newton-Utafiti Fund, jointly funded
by the British and Kenya Government, but managed by the British Council.
Depending on the quality of applications, they will award several grants
of up to £10,000 for institutional research collaborations between at
least one Kenyan and one UK university (at a department or research group
level), and workshop grants of up to £50,000.  Workshops target early
career researchers and must include facilitators from at least one Kenyan
and one UK university.  For this call the deadline is September 19, 2016,
with final decisions to be made by February 2017 and funds available by
April 2017.

It is expected that there will be another call in April 2017. More details
