Africa Regional International Staff/Student Exchange (ARISE II):
Food Security and Sustainable Human Wellbeing

The ARISE Programme invites Applications from African nationals registered
for Masters or Doctoral studies in the fields of Agriculture, Medical
Sciences, Engineering and Energy. A list of subjects offered by this
programme in these fields are available at
To qualify, students must be registered for a full degree Masters or
Doctoral programme at a home African university to spend time (minimum 10
months) at one of the ARISE partner institution. Students must return to
their home institution after the exchange period to complete their degree.
These short-term mobilities should be spent at one of the following ARISE
partner institutions: Addis Ababa University, University of Rwanda,
University of Cape Town, University of Ghana, Makerere University and
University of Nairobi.
Masters & Doctorate Exchanges
Students will focus on research, engage in literature review, specialised
theoretical or methodological training, fieldwork and lab experiments and
will co-operate with their academic host and home supervisors.
These opportunities are designed for professional development of academic
and administrative staff and aim to create mutual institutional knowledge.
Only staff members from the ARISE partner universities are eligible to
apply for this opportunity. Mobility period: administrative staff 1 month;
academics 1-3 months.
