School of Medicine 50 years celebrations kicks off

The School of Medicine, College of Health Sciences (CHS) is celebrating 50 years since its establishment in 1967.

The celebrations kicked off on July 26, 2017 with a free medical camp where members of public were able to access consultation, screening, VCT, pharmacy, laboratory, and dental services at Kenyatta National Hospital Campus.

To mark the celebrations, the school has also organized career talks for high school students from several schools in the country. The talks are conducted by various lecturers from the departments in the School and are aimed at motivating the students to pursue medicine related courses once they finish high school.

The climax of the three days golden jubilee celebrations will be on July 28, 2017. The School of Medicine was founded on July 3, 1967 and officially inaugurated on March 8, 1968 as the Faculty of Medicine. The school admitted its first cohort of 26 medical students in1967.
