UoN and Housing Finance to Collaborate

The University of Nairobi and Housing Finance Corporation have entered into discussions of possible collaborations in the areas of staff scheme loans, Project financing example hostels, commercial development, joint ventures and treasury products.

This proposal was discussed when the managing director of Housing Finance, Mr. Sam Waweru paid a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi on Monday, September 19, 2016 in his office.


Mr. Waweru said that collaborating in these areas will benefit the staff, students, and the general University community. He observed that the University could benefit from its surplus cash reserves by investing in treasury bills and bonds.

Prof. Peter Mbithi welcomed the collaboration and reiterated his commitment to continue creating a conducive climate for partnership in order to make good use of available resources in all areas of the university.

The VC appointed Prof. Mbeche, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Student affairs to head the University of Nairobi team that will work on the proposals with Housing finance Group.

Present during the courtesy call was Finance Officer, UoN, Mr.  Peter Busienei, Director, University Advancement office, Mr. Johnson Kinyua and his deputy, Mr. Brian Ouma, Director, Corporate Affairs, Mr. John Orindi among others.
