VC Pays a courtesy call on National Defence College Commandant

On Tuesday July 31, 2018, UoN Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi paid a courtesy call on Deputy Commandant, Military, Major General Ikenye at the National Defence College in Karen.

The two discussed the benefits that both institutions have enjoyed from the collaboration since 2002 and looked at areas that can be enhanced.

Major General Ikenye said that through the collaboration with the University the institution has managed to play a leadership role in matters of national and regional security. He elaborated the future plans of the institution as; to create a mass of competent officials at policy level.

The VC was given a brief overview of the college and a tour of the facilities.

On his part, Prof. Peter Mbithi noted how research is critical to the University and how research from the participants can be translated to policy initiatives.

He was impressed by the peaceful environment of the institution, “I am impressed by how people study here and what they go through to graduate. We should borrow the good values and good practices that are here because that’s what partnerships are all about”, He said.

Prof. Mbithi assured the Major General of his personal and management’s support to the ongoing partnership.

Present during the courtesy call was Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Prof. Julius Ogeng’o, Director, Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies, Prof. Maria Nzomo, Director, Corporate Affairs, Mr. John Orindi, Prof. William Ogara, Director, Center for International Programmes and Links, Mr. Tim Mweseli, Chief Legal Officer among others.
