UoN and Concordia University Enhance Partnership

The University of Nairobi and Concordia University signed an addendum to an existing MoU between UoN, University of York and Concordia University on Friday, September 23, 2016.

The addendum includes increasing capacity, innovative ways of teaching, and improving delivery of programs.

 

UoN signs memoranda with Yonsei University, Korea and Shiga University Of Medical Science, Japan

The University of Nairobi has entered new partnerships with Yonsei University, Korea and Shiga University of Medical Science, Japan.  

These partnerships include but are not limited to joint research activities and exchange of faculty, students, and research fellows among other mutually beneficial activities. 

UoN and Lanzhou University partner

The University of Nairobi (UoN) through the Faculty of Agriculture, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (CAVS), has entered into a partnership agreement with Lanzhou University (LZU) focusing on agro technologies in dry land farming, water harvesting and waste management. In addition, staff and student exchange programmes will be part of the engagement.

The background to the agreement dates back to 2012, when a team from UoN had the opportunity of touring some of the agricultural research projects that LZU has in place. According to Prof. Zhou Xuhong, LZU is committed to research as it is its strength. Indeed, LZU is known for its continued long research-orientated tradition.

UoN and UJ sign MOU

The University of Nairobi (UoN) and the University of Juba (UJ) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding that will see the two work together in different areas of collaboration including  establishing student and staff exchange programmes and research and production partnerships, curricula development, among others.

Speaking on behalf of the Vice- Chancellor during the signing ceremony, Prof. Isaac Mbeche, Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC), Student Affairs, welcomed the initiative and cited the importance of partnerships. He said that UoN has admitted over 200 students from Sudan, and is therefore honoured to be involved in capacity training for the country.

Chinese to help build Centre for Seismological Training and Research

Plans are underway for the establishment of a Centre for Seismological Training and Research in East Africa, to be based at the College of Biological and Physical Sciences and supported by the Chinese Earthquake Administration.

This was revealed during a courtesy call by a delegation from the Chinese Earthquake Administration on the Vice chancellor, represented by Prof Isaac Mbeche, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs, yesterday. During the courtesy call, a memorandum of understanding was signed and equipment, books and USD  10,000 donated  to the department of geology.
