7000 Seedlings planted on Annual Tree Planting and Growing Day
The University community and its partners gathered and planted 7000 tree seedlings on Friday, May 13, 2022, on the Annual Tree Planting and Growing Day.
Equity Group Foundation,County Government, National Government, Shamba Café, Loresho Community and Association of Green champions joined the university to plant and grow trees.
“We have been planting trees annually for as long as I can remember. When we plant a tree, we show that we have hope; Hope for a better tomorrow,” remarked the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama during the official ceremony.
On his part, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs Prof. Julius Ogeng’o noted that planetary health, is ONE health. ; a matter that brings all expertise together.
“When you care for the environment, you care for everyone in the ecosystem. We have come together to take care of our environment, our own sustenance” noted the Dean Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. John Mande.
Student leader, UNSA, Dennis O. was delighted to welcome the management at the Faculty and noted that the environment is the one thing that’s shared by all regardless of social status.
Loresho Primary School, a major partner, and neighbor to the Upper Kabete Campus participated greatly by planting the most trees. The pupils were full of energy and excitement as they planted the tree seedlings.
