Call for Applications for a Scholarship to participate in the Kühne-Logistics University (KLU) Summer School in Sustainability 2023 (KLU-ISS 2023)
The opportunity to attend the KLU Summer School in Hamburg, Germany in Summer 2023 will be offered at the Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Business and Management Sciences, University of Nairobi, in collaboration with Kühne Logistics University, Hamburg, Germany.
The scholarship is offered through the Africa Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Operations for Resource Management and Food Supply (SCO). The Centre brings together University of Nairobi (UoN), the University of Dar es Salaam (UDBS), and the Kühne Logistics University (KLU) to jointly contribute to enhanced skills and knowledge in sustainable management and operations. The funding for the newly established Center, its activities and the advertised Summer School opportunity is provided by German Foreign Office and the DAAD`s “Center of Excellence of Africa”- Program.
The Summer School takes place on KLU Campus, Hamburg from June 26 - July 14, 2023. The main objective for the KLU Summer School is to equip students with valuable knowledge and tools from different disciplinary angles, while always staying focused on sustainability as the overarching business theme. The participants will be able to attend 20 exciting lectures including discussions taught by experts and KLU professors, project work in small groups including a final presentation, business game in context of sustainability, three excursion days - Hamburg, Berlin and Bremerhaven, two company visits, and German language course.

Target Group: 2nd and 3rd year Bachelor students pursuing a degree in the fields of Business Administration, Economics, Business Informatics, Business Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or Agribusiness Management.
Support provided: KLU-ISS 2023 tuition fee, return flights to Hamburg, accommodation, travel costs i.e., international health insurance (arranged directly by organizers), visa processing fee and daily allowance for the duration of participants stay in Hamburg. KLU-ISS 2023 tuition fee includes teaching material, beverages, lunch and supporting program.
Application: The applicants shall submit an electronic copy of the current CV, transcript of records of all the semesters of study and copy of recognized English language qualification certificate (for instance, IELTS with 6.0 or above, or TOEFL with 60 or above) to Mrs. Mercy Nyambura Mburu, mercyn@uonbi.ac.ke on or before 27 th of April 2023 in one email and as one attachment. In exceptions, KLU can also accept a reference letter from home institution vouching that language of instructions during student’s studies is English.
