In the bustling city of Nairobi, on the 17th of July 2024, a groundbreaking collaboration was announced. The University of Nairobi, in partnership with Cyberpro Global and the Kenya School of Government (KSG), revealed their plans to host Cyberweek Africa 2024: an impactful cyber security conference and exhibition scheduled for 23rd to 27th of September, 2024.

Cyberweek Africa 2024 aims to unite academics, researchers, policy makers, industry experts, and implementers to advance innovative research in cyber security and defense. The conference seeks to foster partnerships, resource mobilization, and address the challenges posed by cyber threats, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning.

During a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor, Mr. John Mutunga, the CEO of Cyberpro Africa, shared insights into the upcoming event. He emphasized the international appeal of Cyberweek Africa 2024, welcoming stakeholders and delegates from across the globe to exchange ideas and explore cutting-edge trends in cyber security. Mr. Mutunga praised the collaboration between the University of Nairobi and Cyberpro, which led to the establishment of a cyber security center at the university. This center is envisioned to become a beacon of excellence in cyber security across Africa, nurturing research initiatives and training skilled professionals in the field. Collaboration with esteemed institutions like the University of Tel Aviv is also on the horizon.

The involvement of the University of Nairobi is set to position Kenya as a hub for policy formulation and the establishment of robust governance structures in the cyber security sector. Notably, papers presented at the conference will find a platform in the university's esteemed journals.

In response to the partnership, Vice Chancellor Prof. Kiama Gitahi expressed enthusiasm and pledged unwavering support from the university. He affirmed that the collaboration would drive transformative change within society, underscoring the commitment to catalyzing positive impacts in the field of cyber security.
