UoN awarded for Implementation of M&E Curriculum
The University of Nairobi was recognized and awarded for its impact in teaching and learning Project Planning and Monitoring and Evaluation in its curriculum.
“UoN is the only University in Africa that teaches project planning from certificate to PhD level. The University through the Faculty of Business and Management Science has been supporting the government in monitoring and evaluation of projects which is among the frameworks that the National Government is using to weigh development even within the counties,” announced Prof. Charles Rambo.
Prof. James Njihia, Dean, Faculty of Business and Management Science noted that the Faculty through its departments is working together in supporting government in the Monitoring and Evaluation aspect.
On his part, Prof. Charles Rambo, who attended the conference commended the University for taking its leadership role in the country through teaching, learning, mentoring other universities and providing solutions. He exclaimed, “Every university that has project planning is being spearheaded by our PhD students in different universities. Every one that has outstanding performance and achievement is our PhD graduate. County governments are coming to the University for Advice on Monitoring and Evaluation of projects.”
This he said as he was presenting the trophy award to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama.
As he received the trophy, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama congratulated the team for their efforts and the recognition. He also noted that he has been receiving positive feedback on how the project planning course is effectively managed by the Faculty since the governance reforms.
Prof. Kiama opined that this recognition will affect how the University conducts business with the government. He pledged support to the faculty and the departments in running the monitoring and evaluation consultancies.
