The Government needs your ideas on managing the COVID19 pandemic and its aftermath
Dear University Community,
I hope that you and all those around you are well.
First, I would like to thank those who sent in proposed interventions on managing the COVID19 pandemic and planning for the recovery after the worst is over. So far, we have received 20 submissions that were compiled into a single report and forwarded to various organs of government. The proposed interventions fell into 5 categories:
- Health interventions: Including techniques of quarantine, surveillance, health emergencies, collection management and disposal of bodies; manufacture of medical devices; reduction of transmissions
- Food security interventions: Including
effects of food supply and food banks - Economic and Financial Interventions:Including
minimum wage interventions; building trust between the state and society - Legal Interventions: Including lega
l and policy framework. - Disaster management InterventionsIncluding: Transport and crowding; containment; homelessness; public-private sector engagement; rapid crowd management; citizen science; technology and innovation-based solutions.
We are aware that a meeting was held at the highest levels to discuss ours and other proposals.
This is a request for submission of a second round of proposed interventions. As we receive them, they shall be compiled and submitted on a rolling basis to the national agencies.
Each intervention of maximum 1 page should include.
