University Signed Performance Contract for FY 2024/2025
The University Management signed the Performance Contracting for the Financial Year 2024/2025 on March 14, 2025.
The Chair of the Council, Prof. Amukowa Anangwe witnessed the signing. Prof. Anangwe stressed that , ‘Performance contracting is not just a formality but a strategic tool that ensures that we align our efforts with the University’s mission, Vision 2030 and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation (BETA) national development agenda. It provides us with clear benchmarks for success, fosters a culture of responsibility, and enables us to track progress towards achieving our goals. As we append our signatures to these contracts, let us do so with a renewed sense of responsibility and dedication. The University of Nairobi depends on our collective efforts to maintain its reputation as a center of academic excellence.
I have no doubt that with commitment, hard work, and a shared vision, we will achieve and surpass our performance targets for this year. I look forward to seeing measurable results that will propel our University to even greater heights and to its previous glory in the global web Rankings.’
During the signing, Prof. Hutchinson, UoN Vice Chancellor, noted that ‘The Performance Contract for FY 2024/2025 has been sufficiently harmonized with the University’s 2023-2027 Strategic Plan to ensure execution of the institution’s priority key plans synchronized with the Key Result Areas (KRAs) that are essential for the growth and sustainability of our University.’
“On Digitalization; Research and Community Service; Innovation and Commercialization Ecosystem; People Focus; Sustainability; and, Teaching, Learning, and Creative Works. It is the basis of the University's strategic vision and outlines our promises toward academic excellence and impact to society.
The Performance contracts have been negotiated and cascaded from the corporate UoN Performance contract for FY 2024/2025,” She said
Mr. Brian Ouma, Chief Operation Officer, noted, ‘This exercise is important for our evaluation and recognition of the best-performing departments and staffs. This serves as a way of motivating, uplifting morale, and driving performance. Through this, we can achieve our commitment of being a globally competitive University transforming society and exemplifying excellence. We need to ensure that in the PC, every party plays their role at an individual level, culminating in the overall Institution performance by setting and striving to achieve corporate goals and targets.
Others present during the signing were Deputy Vice-Chancellors, colleges, deputy college heads, faculties, schools, institutes and centers, satellite campuses, teaching departments and learning centers and central units.
“The University performance contract has been negotiated in a manner that it; resonates with the public expectations, demonstrates progressive achievement of the Medium Term Plan targets, Sector Performance Standards (SPS), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Strategic Plan, and other national development priorities; benchmarks with international best practices and fully aligned to the University budget,” observed. prof. Amukowa Anangwe.
