10 UoN students have been chosen to serve as Ethics Ambassadors for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). This prestigious opportunity comes as part of a broader initiative known as the Ethics Ambassadors Network, which was successfully launched on September 29th at the United Nations Headquarters in Gigiri.

The initiative is a product of the Global Integration Education program and aims to foster ethics, integrity, and leadership skills among the youth.

The Ethics Ambassadors will undergo a comprehensive course on ethics and integrity. This course will equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to act as beacons of ethical conduct and integrity. Moreover, they will be trained to become effective peer mentors, guiding their fellow students towards upholding ethical principles in their academic and personal lives.

Perhaps most importantly, these ambassadors will serve as agents of change in the job market, influencing the practices and behaviors of their future colleagues and employers.

By fostering a culture of ethics and integrity within their professional spheres, they will contribute significantly to creating a more just and responsible workforce.

The selection of these ten dedicated students represents not only a significant honor for the University of Nairobi but also a beacon of hope for fostering a more ethical and responsible society. The appointed ambassadors are poised to play a pivotal role in championing ethical values and integrity, both within their academic institution and the broader community.

Vivian Kabiru, a dynamic 23-year-old leader at the University of Nairobi, expressed her enthusiasm for this new role. She serves as the UON chapter leader for the Ethics Ambassadors Network. In a statement, she said, "This is a chance for us to be the change agents for a transformative society that upholds ethics and integral values. It begins with us."

The launch of the Ethics Ambassadors Network at the United Nations Headquarters in Gigiri, Nairobi  marks the beginning of an exciting journey for these ten exceptional students from the University of Nairobi. Their selection as UNODC Ethics Ambassadors is a testament to their commitment to ethical principles and their potential to inspire positive change in Kenya and beyond.
