The University of Nairobi signed a Collaborative Agreement with the National Innovation Foundation-India (NIF) on Friday, January 19, 2024, in New Delhi, India. The University of
Nairobi Vice Chancellor Prof Stephen Kiama and NIF Head of Administration and Scientist, Dr Ravi Kumar RK signed the collaborative agreement. The agreement will open great avenues and opportunities for the two nations for technology transfer, innovation incubation, and commercialization, strengthening of science technology, and innovation ecosystem with staff and students.

The University of Nairobi will tap into this existing framework to strengthen the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem and opportunities for venture capital, as well as strengthen and advance the relationship with the great people of India. This agreement provides an excellent incubation ecosystem that fosters innovation, knowledge transfer, and expansion of grassroots technological innovators anchored in a community that identifies novel innovations and practices for incubation.

The University of Nairobi is keen to strengthen and advance the relationship with the great people of India. This partnership will be a welcome boost to the premier research and academic institution that is teeming with brilliant young innovative minds, eager to bring their innovations to scale. NIF will ensure that such innovations and knowledge diffuse widely through commercial and non-commercial channels, generating material or non-material incentives for them and others involved in the value chain.

NIF is a nationwide project in India that aims to support great traditional knowledge, student inventions, and grassroots technological discoveries. In any field of technology, NIF seeks out, encourages, and produces grassroots innovations created by local communities and individuals. It seeks to provide them and other participants in the value chain with material or non-material incentives. NIF also tries to guarantee that such inventions and information are spread widely through commercial and/or non-commercial channels.
