The University of Nairobi (UoN) has been fully accredited to train students in BSc. Food Nutrition and Dietetics at the Department of Food Science, Nutrition and Technology (DFSNT), College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (CAVS).

As a leading institution in Kenya and the region, UoN has been offering the programme based on an interim licence.

The Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute (KNDI), mandated by law as a professional organization to inspect and approve nutrition and dietetics programmes in Kenya in collaboration with Commission for University Education (CUE), carried out site inspection based on eleven key standards and UoN surpassed the minimum requirements.

In a virtual meeting held on March 9, 2021, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama received with acknowledgement the accreditation licence as delivered by the KNDI accreditation committee chairman, Dr. G Nguka and KNDI CEO, Dr. D. Okeyo.
