The Ukrainian Ambassador to Kenya, H.E Amb. Pravednyk Andrii Ivanovych  on Wednesday,  January 19, 2022,  told the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nairobi that there are a number of Universities in Ukraine looking for Kiswahili Scholars. He said that the embassy would be keen to work with UoN to fill the gap. The Ambassador said he will facilitate the collaboration between the University of Nairobi and Ukrainian Universities in various fields of mutual interests.

Ambassador Pravednylk  is  keen in promoting cultural exchanges,  He promised, ‘I would like to organize an international day for Kenyan and Ukrainian cuisines at the University of Nairobi.”

 His Excellency also observed that there are over 2,000 Kenyans who are Alumni of various Ukrainian universities and he would like to network with them and use them to promote cultural exchange and trade between the two countries.

On his part, the Vice-Chancellor, welcomed the collaboration initiatives proposed by the Ambassador, He said, ‘The University of Nairobi is the leading and oldest University in Kenya and it has strategic influence in the sector. The University has signed collaboration agreements with some Universities in Ukraine and is open to more.’

The UoN VC concluded by saying that the University is currently undertaking reforms and would be keen to borrow best practices from European universities.
