Mwawasi Elizabeth, Sandra Arunga and Anne Makhanu were flagged off to go study in Paris, France, on Friday August 16, 2024.

Elizabeth and Sandra will undertake Sustainable and Green Finance at Ècole des Ponts ParisTech while Anne will be working on a research project on “Energy Efficiency of 5G IoT Networks” at CentraleSupèlec

The three Engineering students participated in company series; a programme that brings together industry experts and University students to bridge the gap between theory and practice. It is through this programme that the students were awarded an opportunity of student exchange to study in French Institutions under the Engineering and Science Complex (ESC) that is currently being implemented at the University.

“This is the software part of the ESC, before the hardware that is yet to be built,’ remarked the Dean, Faculty of Engineering Prof. Siphila Mumenya. She encouraged the students to soak it all in, the experience, the achievements, the learnings and the network from this experience.

Mr. Brian Ouma, the Chief Operations Officer and the Director, Advancement and Institutional Development congratulated the three students for the remarkable achievements and highlighted, ‘These students are from the 2nd cohort of the company series programme that we have run successfully through the Faculty of Engineering. This is just an example of how UoN students and staff will benefit from this tripartite Partnership Agreement that we signed with the Kenyan and the French Government.’

Prof. Ayub Gitau, the Ag Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs challenged the students to dream more as they pursue this grand opportunity.

Prof. Kiema and Dr. Siriba who were the students’ mentors congratulated them and urged them to take this as a mentorship opportunity, to solve global challenges, to interact, learn and be great brand ambassadors.
