UoN Don and son feted at the ADR2022
UoN Faculty of Law Don, Dr. Kariuki Muigua and his son James Ngotho Kariuki scooped the African Arbitrator of the Year 2022 and Africa’s Young Arbitration Practitioner of the Year 2022 awards respectively.
This was revealed during the 3rd Alternative Dispute Resolution awards held in Kigali, Rwanda on Friday, June 17, 2022.
The duo emerged top, beating candidates from other countries such as Rwanda, Mauritius, Nigeria, Kenya and Ethiopia among others.
According to the Lawyer Africa website , “The winner of African Arbitrator of the Year 2022 Award Dr. Kariuki Muigua, PhD is ranked one of the top 6 arbitrators in Kenya by the authoritative Chambers & Partners law directory. He is an avid arbitrator of twenty (20) standing who has handled arbitrations worth over Ksh. 300 Billion in the last decade alone. He is one of the elite Arbitrators in Kenya who has attained the highest rank of Chartered Arbitrator (C.Arb) and was elected unopposed as the Africa’s Trustee of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, making him the official leader of arbitration in Africa.
Dr. Muigua, was the winner of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya) Branch Lifetime Achievement Award and ADR Practitioner of the Year at the Nairobi Legal Awards in 2021.
On the other hand, Kariuki is the chairperson of the Young Members Group (YMG) of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and one of the leading Dispute Resolution Lawyers in Kenya.
The University of Nairobi management congratulated the two on this huge achievement.
