A 4th year UoN student studying economics was recently crowned winner at the Beauty of Africa International Pageant and she narrated to Corporate Affairs her experience.

My name is Messry Lungat’so, a fourth-year, economics student.

I first contested in Beauty of Africa International Pageant, BAIP, Kenya in May 2021 and was 2nd Runner-up. I have since tried out other pageants like Miss Earth Kenya 2021 and made it to the semis. I then embarked on serious practice in preparation for BAIP 2022 which is Africa's biggest pageant platform. Kenyan finals were held at Carnivore Nairobi in August where I won and got the opportunity to represent Kenya at the African finals held in Abuja Nigeria. I got the opportunity to win the competition at the Africa finals followed by Ghana’s Prisca Abah and Miss Nigeria, Okereke Juliana.

This was indeed the best experience I've had. I have gotten to learn, explore and express myself. Our theme this year is " Value all women". It's an honor to get to be part of such a cause. I am particularly interested in working on financial literacy, mental health awareness, especially among university students, and promoting environmental sustainability.

I'm grateful for the opportunity given to me and many other girls by BAIP. It's been an enlightening experience, educative and fun. I am very excited to share everything I've learned during our camp in Abuja to improve my community and even extend further.
