May 21, 2025, is World Cultural Day, a globally recognized event celebrating cultural diversity and inclusivity. In step with the global recognition of this event, and in line with the Library Performance Contract target 2024/2025, the University of Nairobi Library and Information Services will be holding a Library Cultural Day on April 8th 2025 to celebrate cultural diversity and showcase tacit knowledge.

The Library Department is also holding a Library Open and Academic Integrity week, scheduled to run from 8th to 11th April 2025. The theme of this year’s event is “The Future of Knowledge and Open Access: Balancing Technology and Academic Ethics.” The event will be blended i.e., Physical user engagement and on-site exhibitions at three host faculty Libraries (Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, and Faculty of Agriculture & Veterinary Medicine), while the online training and interactive presentation sessions will be conducted virtually, bringing on board audiences from the entire University fraternity.

This will be an opportunity to interact with stakeholders and to market library services.

Objectives of Cultural/Library Open & Academic Integrity Week

2.      Open access movement discussions at the university to enhance research visibility and knowledge diffusion.
