The University of Nairobi played host to an exciting football tournament that brought together East African football legends in celebration of the International Day of Older Persons, observed annually on October 1st

The event, organized by Age Watch Africa in collaboration with the University of Nairobi, sought to promote active ageing, intergenerational interaction, and the recognition of the invaluable contribution of older persons to society. The football legends, who once graced stadiums across the region, showcased their skills and passion for the beautiful game, thrilling spectators and reminding all of the enduring spirit of sportsmanship.

Speaking during the event, representatives from the University emphasized the institution’s commitment to community engagement and social inclusion through sport and wellness initiatives. “Hosting this tournament underscores our belief in the power of sports to unite generations and foster mutual respect,” they noted.

The tournament not only provided a platform for the legends to reconnect with fans and each other but also highlighted the importance of maintaining physical and mental well-being at every stage of life.
