The University of Nairobi women basketball team popularly known as the Dynamites is set to represent Kenya in the Red Bull half court 3x3 basketball world final to be held in Egypt starting from 28th September to 2nd October 2022. The students’ team emerged as the overall winners after competing with over 30 teams that took part in the Kenya Federation Basketball National qualifications and trials thereby qualifying to represent Kenya in the world finals 3x3 basketball competition.

The students Sharon Gaceri (Team Captain), Faith Otieno, Alisha Ellora, and Elizabeth Okumu met with the Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama as they plan to travel to Egypt ahead of the competition. During the meeting Prof. Kiama congratulated the team for reaching the finals and wished them well in the competition. “As you go to the competition always carry the banner of UoN home of talents. I wish you all the best as you head to Egypt. Work hard and bring home trophies in this competition and any other competition that you will participate in,” Prof. Kiama said.

The VC also reminded the team of being disciplined saying it is key to success in sports.

The team will be competing with teams from 25 countries and the players have embarked on a very vigorous training schedule under their coach Kent Juma.
